The Aune S17 Pro EVO is the evolution of Aune's flagship fully discrete Class-A headphone amplifier, built to drive almost any headphone or IEM with authority. It combines a Twin JFET input, an R2R volume control, and a substantial linear power supply to deliver up to 7.5 watts of pure Class-A power, with selectable current and gain to tailor the sound to your headphones.

Type and Technology

The S17 Pro EVO is a fully balanced, fully discrete Class-A headphone amplifier and preamplifier. Its output stage uses two pairs of parallel output transistors per channel, sixteen output transistors in total, for a maximum output of 7.5W. A Twin JFET input stage provides a smooth, tube-like character, while a JRC R2R electronic volume chip forms a four-channel balanced volume control for precise tracking and channel balance. Two selectable Class-A current levels (A-L 50mA and A-H 100mA per transistor) and two gain levels let you match the amplifier to sensitive IEMs or power-hungry full-size headphones. A built-in temperature sensor automatically switches to the lower current mode if the chassis reaches around 69C to protect the amplifier while preserving sound quality. Connectivity includes three headphone outputs (6.35mm, balanced 4.4mm, and XLR), two preamplifier outputs, and two line inputs.

Sound Character

Operating continuously in Class-A, the S17 Pro EVO produces a rich, warm, and highly detailed sound with very low distortion. The A-H current mode adds fullness and drive for demanding headphones, while the A-L mode offers a tighter, more efficient presentation. The result is an effortless, refined listening experience with a wide, well-defined soundstage.

Build and Finish

Power comes from a 50W low-ripple toroidal transformer with a dual power design and a 19200uF capacitor bank, keeping the analogue stage free from interference. A three-dimensional heat-sink structure ties the transistor coolers, base heat plate, and chassis into one cooling system for stable Class-A operation. The iconic arched aluminium enclosure is offered in Black and Silver.
